How do you brand a dating app to a generation that is completely cynical about love, and even more skeptical of the brands trying to sell it to them?
That was the riddle we set out to solve for Hinge. Our task wasn’t to get young singles to download an app through slick marketing fluff; it was to bypass the glossy, superficial swipe-culture entirely and target their hearts, not just their brains. We leaned heavily into raw, approachable, and profoundly relatable storytelling.
Soul > Features
Hinge is famously the app "designed to be deleted." The product forces users to show actual personality through profile prompts before a match can even happen. But let’s be real—nobody downloads an app because they fell in love with its UX feature.
So we started with the users. We dug past the typical influencer tropes and tapped right into the good stuff - the real anxieties, complex situations, and that quiet, stubborn shred of hope that young singles still harbor for modern relationships. By treating Hinge as the answer to modern dating burnout rather than the cause, we showed that finding a safe, genuine connection doesn't require a script.
A Love Letter to the Dam: Hinge x Amsterdam 750
Connections don’t happen in a vacuum. Dates are tied to spaces, local culture, and context. When Amsterdam turned 750, we celebrated the city built on centuries of unexpected connections and did what any culture-obsessed agency would do: we gave the city of Amsterdam its very own Hinge profile.
We unburied the city's best hidden love stories, spun them into live Hinge prompts, and had local illustrator Bodil Jane bring the narratives to life.
Less "campaign," more localized cultural takeover.

The internet loves to complain about dating, but we wanted to gently remind everyone that being in a relationship isn’t actually that bad. Because you know what? No two love stories look the same.
We zoomed right into the hyper-specific, tiny anecdotes that make every couple completely unique. Using a playful edit style to add a little extra magic, we let real couples tell it exactly like it is. No setups. No staged scripts. Just pure, unvarnished truth, proving that sometimes all it takes is one small move to change everything.
Choosing truth over polish doesn't only win minds, but also hearts.
